OHA U18 Midget AAA uses shootout to best Cumberland Midget AAA, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17 defeated the Cumberland Midget AAA Grads in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Cumberland Midget AAA was stymied by OHA U18 Midget AAA's netminder Danick Francoeur, who stopped 42 shots during the victory. Francoeur managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.16 prior to the game.

The OHA U17 stifled the Grads' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

OHA U18 Midget AAA was led by Jon Vandermolen, who registered one goal. Vandermolen scored 4:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 OHA U18 Midget AAA.

Cumberland Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the OHA U17 to score on any of their five power plays. The Grads were held below their usual level of production. Cumberland Midget AAA puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Grads forced OHA U18 Midget AAA goalie Francoeur to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Cumberland Midget AAA was led by Zakary Rodrigue, who scored the team's only goal. Rodrigue scored 1:11 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Tristan Francis picked up the assist.

The OHA U17 incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kai Edmonds made 23 saves for the Grads on 24 shots. Cumberland Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
