Hawkesbury Midget AAA rolls over Gloucester Midget AAA, 6-3

The Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA got the win thanks to a great game by Mathieu Grandmont, who had two goals and two assists. Grandmont scored the first of his two goals at 54 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-1 Hawkesbury Midget AAA. Tyler Boivin assisted on the tally. Grandmont's next tally made the score 5-1 Hawkesbury Midget AAA with 18:15 left in the third period. Alex Elie picked up the assist.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gloucester Midget AAA to score on any of its three power plays. Hawkesbury Midget AAA's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Hawks average 2.6 goals per contest.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA additionally got points from Boivin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Martin Lavigne, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Elie, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Hawkesbury Midget AAA also got a goal from Maxime Habel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA were Adam Levesque, who had two and Luke Paquette, Nathan Sauve, and Cedric Roth, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers were helped by Neil Gummeson, who had one goal. Gummeson scored 9:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Harry Sanders assisted on the tally. Gloucester Midget AAA also had goals scored by Connor Noonan and Matt Mullin, who each put in one. More assists for Gloucester Midget AAA came via Cameron Sinclair, Ty Morelli, and Marc Brosseau, who contributed one each.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA's Jean Marc Brisson stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gloucester Midget AAA's starting goalie, Brent Pledge-Dickson, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jean-Sebastien Gratton, who stopped six shots. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
