Brockville Midget AAA wins tough contest against Kanata Midget AAA, 4-2

The Brockville Midget AAA Braves and the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Brockville Midget AAA made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Serron Noel secured the win for the Braves with a goal in the third period.

Adam VanEttinger had two goals to lead Brockville Midget AAA to victory. VanEttinger scored at 10:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville Midget AAA and again while 7:33 into the third to make the score 2-2.

The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brockville Midget AAA forced Kanata Midget AAA goalie Cameron Scott to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Brockville Midget AAA also got points from Jacob Shankar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Brockville Midget AAA received assists from Harrison Mayotte, who had two and Brett Lannin, Cameron Hebert, and Colin Marshall, who contributed one each.

The Lasers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Braves to score on any of their six power plays. Brockville Midget AAA was unable to stop Kanata Midget AAA from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lasers eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Kanata Midget AAA's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lasers finished with 14 penalty minutes.

Kanata Midget AAA was helped by Mack Miller, who finished with one goal. Miller scored short handed 14:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kanata Midget AAA. The Lasers were on a disadvantage when Adam Church went off the ice for interference. Luca Nocita also scored for Kanata Midget AAA. More assists for Kanata Midget AAA came via Bennett Stockdale and Cade Townend, who each chipped in one.

Kyle Herbison made 36 saves for the Braves on 38 shots. Brockville Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Scott recorded 31 saves for Kanata Midget AAA.
