Asselin leads OHA U18 Midget AAA to shutout victory over OHA U17 Midget AAA

Francis Asselin recorded a shutout against the OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 as the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17 picked up a 3-0 win.

OHA U17 Midget AAA's power play was ineffective against OHA U18 Midget AAA's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The OHA U17 were led by Kyle Foreman, who grabbed one goal. Foreman scored 12:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 OHA U18 Midget AAA. Jon Vandermolen picked up the assist.

OHA U18 Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The OHA U17's defensive effort looked to be improved. OHA U18 Midget AAA gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. The OHA U17's offense rang up 32 shots on the OHA U16's net.

OHA U18 Midget AAA also had goals scored by Dylan Stacey and Justin Poirier, who each put in one. In addition, OHA U18 Midget AAA received assists from Heath Ford, Craig Garrigan, and Justin Cheng, who each chipped in one.

OHA U17 Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OHA U18 Midget AAA to score on any of its seven power plays. The OHA U16 were held below their usual level of production. OHA U17 Midget AAA averages 2.1 goals per game. The OHA U16's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as OHA U17 Midget AAA finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Asselin recorded 25 saves for the OHA U17. OHA U18 Midget AAA incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Dillon Lamarche rejected 29 shots on goal for the OHA U16.
