Cannell leads Cumberland Midget AAA over Kanata Midget AAA, 4-1

Roman Cannell had one goal and two assists to lead the Cumberland Midget AAA Grads to a 4-1 victory over the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers.

Cannell beat Cameron Scott with a shot 20 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland Midget AAA. Zakary Rodrigue provided the assist. Cannell dished an assist on Rodrigue's goal that made the score 1-1 at 13:54 into the first period. He added another helper on Anthony Reyes's goal that made the score 2-1 Cumberland Midget AAA at 4:18 into the second period.

Cumberland Midget AAA's penalty kill excelled, as the Grads gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Cumberland Midget AAA stifled Kanata Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Cumberland Midget AAA was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Cumberland Midget AAA additionally got points from Rodrigue, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cumberland Midget AAA also got a goal from Ethan Cahill as well. More assists for Cumberland Midget AAA came via Mathieu Plante, Alex Wall, and Tommy Stevenson, who contributed one each.

The Lasers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Kanata Midget AAA averages 3.8 goals per game. The Lasers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Kanata Midget AAA finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The Lasers were led by Bennett Stockdale, who scored the team's only goal. Stockdale scored 11:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata Midget AAA. David Silye picked up the assist.

Seth Carter rejected 20 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland Midget AAA registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Cameron Scott made 24 saves for Kanata Midget AAA on 28 shots.
