Nocita's hat trick boosts Kanata Midget AAA over Gloucester Midget AAA, 5-1

Luca Nocita netted a hat trick to lead the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers over the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers, 5-1.

Nocita's first goal came 8:57 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:42 into the second and at 1:08 into the third.

Kanata Midget AAA was led by goalie Cameron Scott, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Scott will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.19.

Gloucester Midget AAA's power play was ineffective against the Lasers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Kanata Midget AAA forced Rangers' goaltenders to work all game long, firing 43 shots and forcing 38 saves. Jean-Sebastien Gratton made 38 stops and Brent Pledge-Dickson made zero. The Lasers found themselves short handed often, totaling 16 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Kanata Midget AAA also got points from Brian Bygrave, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Justin Palmer, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata Midget AAA were Bennett Stockdale, who had two.

The Rangers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Gloucester Midget AAA is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season. The Rangers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Gloucester Midget AAA was led by Matt Mullin, who scored the team's only goal. Mullin scored on the power play 5:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester Midget AAA. The Rangers had taken the advantage when Kanata Midget AAA's Stockdale got sent off for slashing. Sam Paquette picked up the assist.

The Lasers registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
