CIHA Green Midget AAA rolls over Kanata Midget AAA, 4-1

The CIHA Green Midget AAA Green had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers.

Kanata Midget AAA was stymied by CIHA Green Midget AAA's netminder Zachary Kott, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. Kott managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.26 prior to the game.

The Green's penalty kill excelled, as CIHA Green Midget AAA gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Green were helped by Cole Burton, who registered one goal. Burton scored 14:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 CIHA Green Midget AAA. Jacob Roberts picked up the assist. CIHA Green Midget AAA additionally got points from Roberts, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for CIHA Green Midget AAA included Matthew Grouchy and Tyler Grill, who scored one goal each. In addition, CIHA Green Midget AAA received assists from Gregory Rogers, Bryson Michel, and Jake Jurgeneit, who each chipped in one.

The Lasers stifled CIHA Green Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kanata Midget AAA's offense operated below its season average. The Lasers average 3.8 goals per game. Kanata Midget AAA's offense rang up 37 shots on the Green's net.

The Lasers were led by Andrew MacKinnon, who scored the team's only goal. MacKinnon scored on the power play 14:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A slashing penalty on Jurgeneit had put Kanata Midget AAA on the power play. Luca Nocita assisted on the tally.

CIHA Green Midget AAA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cameron Scott recorded 26 saves for the Lasers. Kanata Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
