M1 Slippery Rock University beats M2 Akron University of 5-4 as Kimmick gets hat trick

Thomas Kimmick netted a hat trick to lead the M1 Slippery Rock University Pride over M2 Akron University of, 5-4.

Kimmick notched his first tally 7:49 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:20 into the third and at 18:29 into the third.

M1 Slippery Rock University stifled M2 Akron University of's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Pride forced M2 Akron University of goalie Korey Davis to work between the pipes, taking 59 shots.

M1 Slippery Rock University also got points from Josh Mccuean, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nate Mettenburg also scored for M1 Slippery Rock University. More assists for M1 Slippery Rock University came via Ryan Markiewicz, Karson Frisk, Patrick Spaulding, and Brandon Harris, who contributed one each and Joseph Bender and Alex Shimoloens, who each chipped in two.

M2 Akron University of managed to stay out of the box for the most part, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. M2 Akron University of finished with less than its 24.0 minutes average penalties per game. M1 Slippery Rock University was unable to stop M2 Akron University of from sending pucks towards the net, and M2 Akron University of eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.
