Cumberland Midget AAA outlasts Carleton Place Midget AAA, 5-3

The game between the Cumberland Midget AAA Grads and the Carleton Place Midget AAA Canadians was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cumberland Midget AAA emerged with a 5-3 win.

The Grads gained the winning advantage on a goal by Roman Cannell 17:47 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Cannell was all over the ice for Cumberland Midget AAA, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

The Grads kept Carleton Place Midget AAA's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Leach made 30 saves on 35 shots. Cumberland Midget AAA struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for three opposing power plays.

Others who scored for Cumberland Midget AAA included Zakary Rodrigue, TJ Price, and Alex Wall, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Tristan Francis, who had two and Daniel Mellon, Alex Robert, and Wil Murray, who contributed one each.

The Canadians' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Carleton Place Midget AAA averages 1.6 goal allowed per game. The Canadians' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Carleton Place Midget AAA finished with 18 penalty minutes.

The Canadians were helped by Cameron Scissons, who racked up one goal. Scissons scored 14:24 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Liam Markhauser picked up the assist. Carleton Place Midget AAA also got points from Emile Cyr, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Anthony Douchant also scored for Carleton Place Midget AAA. More assists for Carleton Place Midget AAA came via Reece Bolton and Ethan Wardman, who each chipped in one.

Kai Edmonds recorded 25 saves for the Grads. Cumberland Midget AAA registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
