Smiths Falls Midget AAA rips Hawkesbury Midget AAA, 7-1

The Smiths Falls Midget AAA Bears had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks.

Smiths Falls Midget AAA was led by Dylan McMahon, who racked up one goal. McMahon scored 1:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Smiths Falls Midget AAA. Ethan Coltart provided the assist.

The Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hawkesbury Midget AAA power plays. Smiths Falls Midget AAA's offense rang up 31 shots on Hawkesbury Midget AAA's net. The Bears surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Smiths Falls Midget AAA averages 2.5 goals per game. The Bears' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Smiths Falls Midget AAA additionally got points from Nathan Bisson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Coltart, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Brock Boisclair, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls Midget AAA also had goals scored by Mackenzie Mercier, Josh Bifolchi, and Connor Drost, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls Midget AAA were Matthew Bidin, who had three and Chris Bernard, Blake Kettyle, Nathaniel Watson, and Michael Hogan, who contributed one each.

The Hawks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Hawkesbury Midget AAA finished with 14 penalty minutes.

The Hawks were led by Tyler Boivin, who scored the team's only goal. Boivin scored 4:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls Midget AAA. Nicholas Andre picked up the assist.

Kyle Renaud rejected 18 shots on goal for Smiths Falls Midget AAA. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Connor Morris recorded 24 saves for Hawkesbury Midget AAA.
