OHA U17 Midget AAA outlasts Cornwall Midget AAA, 3-2

The OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 and the Cornwall Midget AAA Colts were evenly matched throughout their contest, but OHA U17 Midget AAA made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Thomas Callaghan at 3:13 of the third period.

Nikita Lopatin was all over the ice for the OHA U16, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Lopatin scored on the power play at 14:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 38 seconds into the second to make the score 2-1 OHA U17 Midget AAA.

OHA U17 Midget AAA could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

In addition, OHA U17 Midget AAA received assists from Yanick Leblanc and Tim Kobler, who each chipped in one.

The OHA U16 were unable to stop Cornwall Midget AAA from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Cornwall Midget AAA struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Colts were helped by Noah Konink, who tallied one goal. Konink scored on the power play 5:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall Midget AAA. Cornwall Midget AAA had gotten the advantage when OHA U17 Midget AAA's Thomas Harper was sent off for interference. Mathew Harrington provided the assist. Cornwall Midget AAA also got a goal from Mathieu Sabourin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall Midget AAA were Ethan Mulhearn, who had one.

Dillon Lamarche recorded 29 saves for the OHA U16. Greg Brassard made 22 saves for the Colts on 25 shots. Cornwall Midget AAA registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
