M1 West Virginia University wins tough contest against M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 West Virginia University Mountaineers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo Tigers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Nicholas Burt secured the win for M1 West Virginia University with a goal in the third period.

The Mountaineers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 30 penalty minutes.

M1 West Virginia University was led by Burt, who registered one goal. Burt scored on the power play 2:01 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 West Virginia University. The Mountaineers had gotten the advantage when M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo's Sean Bellefeuille was sent off for elbowing. Austin Crane assisted on the tally.

M1 West Virginia University excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Tigers to get one power play goal on 13 chances. With 43 shots on target during the contest, the Mountaineers exceeded the 1.1 shot they average per game this year.

Others who scored for M1 West Virginia University included Jp Sawyer, Ryan Zujkowski, and Frankie Gerbasi, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 West Virginia University were Eric Keefe and Tyler Collard, who each chipped in one.

The 27 shots that M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo put on net surpassed the Tigers' average of 0.2 shots per game this season. M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Tigers finished with 20 penalty minutes.

M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo additionally got points from Phillip Scheible, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, M1 Rochester Institute of Technolo received assists from Jacob Zaremski and Brendan Solinski, who contributed one each.
