Bartus leads Macon Mayhem to shutout victory over Louisiana

Garrett Bartus was superb between the pipes for Macon Mayhem, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Louisiana IceGators.

Macon Mayhem was led by Mark Rivera, who registered one goal. Rivera scored 4:33 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Macon Mayhem. Vadim Guskov picked up the assist.

Macon Mayhem put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Louisiana to score on any of its five power plays. Macon Mayhem's defense was surprisingly good. Macon Mayhem gives up 2.8 goals on average per game. Macon Mayhem relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Shawn Skelly, Guskov and Jackson Brewer took 17 of the team's 33 shots.

Macon Mayhem also got points from Guskov, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Skelly, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Macon Mayhem were Anton Lennartsson, who had two and Lucas LaBelle, Nick Grasso, Daniel Gentzler, and Jake Trask, who contributed one each.

The IceGators could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Louisiana puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. With 29 shots on target during the contest, the IceGators exceeded the 24.5 shots they average per game this year.

Louisiana was led by Jake Hauswirth, who took six shots.

Macon Mayhem's Bartus stopped 29 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Macon Mayhem incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brad Barone made 29 saves for the IceGators on 33 shots. Louisiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
