Frischmon lifts Louisiana over Mississippi RiverKings, 5-1

Zac Frischmon had two goals to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 5-1 victory over Mississippi RiverKings.

Frischmon scored on the power play at 16:04 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana and again while on the power play 6:38 into the second to make the score 3-1 Louisiana.

Mississippi RiverKings was stymied by Louisiana's netminder Adam Courchaine, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Courchaine managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.72 prior to the game.

The IceGators' penalty kill excelled, as Louisiana gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The IceGators racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. Louisiana surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The IceGators were below their usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 26.1 Louisiana averages. The IceGators' goal total was higher than their season average. Louisiana has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Louisiana additionally got points from Geordie Wudrick, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Louisiana included John Daniels and Jeremy Boyer, who scored one goal each. More assists for Louisiana came via Blake Hietala, who had two and Travis Armstrong, Dan Cornell, Jordan Ciccarello, Mike Kavanagh, Ben Kramer, and Luke Sandler, who contributed one each.

Mississippi RiverKings forced the IceGators goalie Courchaine to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Matt Harrington, who scored the team's only goal. Harrington scored on the power play 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings had gotten the advantage when Louisiana's Hietala was sent off for tripping. Reid Campbell provided the assist.

The IceGators registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Mississippi RiverKings took out Spencer McLay after he had made 11 saves and installed Garrett Sheehan in goal, where he finished with three saves and the loss. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
