Fayetteville beats Louisiana 1-0 as Van Buskirk gains shutout

The Fayetteville FireAntz used a sparkling performance by Parker Van Buskirk to take down the Louisiana IceGators, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Fayetteville's 1-0 shutout victory.

Josh McQuade's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 16:08 in the second period. Graeme Strukoff assisted on the tally.

The FireAntz were paced by McQuade, who had one goal.

Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The FireAntz was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Fayetteville averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. The FireAntz put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.4 they average per game.

Louisiana stifled Fayetteville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators' offense operated below their season average. Louisiana averages 2.7 goals per game. With 36 shots on target during the contest, the IceGators exceeded the 22.9 shots they average per game this year.

Louisiana was led by John Daniels, who took five shots.

Van Buskirk rejected 36 shots on goal for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The FireAntz ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brad Plumton was ejected from the game. The IceGators' Brad Barone stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Louisiana incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the IceGators, Luke Sandler was ejected from the game.
