Macon Mayhem downs Columbus in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Macon Mayhem's Shawn Skelly scored 4:40 into overtime to beat the Columbus Cottonmouths, 2-1 (OT).

Macon Mayhem was led by goalie Garrett Bartus, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. Bartus certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.38 entering the contest.

Macon Mayhem was paced by Skelly, who registered one goal.

Macon Mayhem put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its five power plays. With 33 shots on target during the contest, Macon Mayhem exceeded the 22.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Macon Mayhem additionally got points from Ryan Michel, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Macon Mayhem received assists from Jackson Brewer and Daniel Gentzler, who contributed one each.

The Cottonmouths excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Columbus forced Macon Mayhem goalie Bartus to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Cottonmouths were led by Vladyslav Gavrik, who scored the team's only goal. Gavrik scored 11:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Andy Bathgate picked up the assist.

Macon Mayhem ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Brandon Jaeger recorded 31 saves for Columbus. The Cottonmouths ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Columbus ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Al Graves was ejected from the game.
