The Fayetteville FireAntz almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Pensacola Ice Flyers managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end. Pensacola led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Ice Flyers' Jeremy Gates scored at 9:59 in the second period to put Pensacola up 3-0. The Ice Flyers were paced by Adam Pawlick, who had one goal and one assist. Pawlick scored 2:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola. Joe Caveney provided the assist. Pensacola excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Ice Flyers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.2 shots per game they average. Pensacola additionally got points from Corey Banfield, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Pensacola came via Stephen Buco, who had one. Fayetteville stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The FireAntz were led by Andrew Darrigo, who scored the team's only goal. Darrigo scored 18:23 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Josh McQuade assisted on the tally. The Ice Flyers' John McLean stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Pensacola totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For the Ice Flyers, Ludlow Harris was ejected from the game. Parker Van Buskirk made 42 saves for Fayetteville on 45 shots. The FireAntz ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Fayetteville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McQuade was ejected from the game.
