Louisiana vanquishes Mississippi RiverKings in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Jeremy Boyer netted the deciding goal for the Louisiana IceGators in the shootout as IceGators prevailed over Mississippi RiverKings, 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Louisiana got a shootout goal from Boyer.

Jake Hauswirth had a great game for the IceGators, netting two goals. Hauswirth's tallies came at 8:37 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and short handed 1:34 into the third to make the score 3-2 Louisiana.

Louisiana was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Louisiana put 44 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.1 it averages per game.

Geordie Wudrick also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Dan Cornell, who had one and Alex Hudson, who had two.

Mississippi RiverKings stifled the IceGators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Charles Mosey, Linden Bahm and Bryan Dallaire took 19 of the team's 37 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Mosey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Ryan Marcuz as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Sam Higgins, who had two and Mark Pustin and Troy Polino, who contributed one each.

Brad Barone made 34 saves for Louisiana on 37 shots. The IceGators registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Peter Di Salvo rejected 40 shots on goal for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-7 on the power play.
