Peoria beats Macon Mayhem 4-0 as Rank gains shutout

Kyle Rank recorded a shutout against Macon Mayhem as the Peoria Rivermen picked up a 4-0 win.

Peoria was led by Connor P. Toomey, who had one goal. Toomey scored 8:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Ben Oskroba picked up the assist.

The Rivermen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Macon Mayhem to score on any of its three power plays. Peoria's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.8 shots per game it averages.

Peoria also got points from Ben Power, who also registered one goal and one assist and Adam Stuart, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Peoria also got a goal from Dave Pszenyczny as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Jack Callahan, Alec Hagaman, Walker Wintoneak, and Steve Morra, who each chipped in one.

Macon Mayhem excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Macon Mayhem could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Macon Mayhem averages 2.3 goals per game. Macon Mayhem put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 17.8 it averages per game.

Macon Mayhem was led by Shawn Skelly, who took seven shots.

Rank rejected 29 shots on goal for the Rivermen. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Garrett Bartus made 35 saves for Macon Mayhem on 39 shots. Macon Mayhem incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
