Brett Lutes racked up one point to lead the Huntsville Havoc to a 4-1 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Havoc could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Jeremy Beirnes, who totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Huntsville also got points from John Lidgett, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Huntsville also had goals scored by Scott Henegar and John McGinnis, who scored one goal each. More assists for Huntsville came via Nolan Kaiser and Nick Schneider, who each chipped in one. Knoxville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Bears surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Knoxville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Doug Reid, Bret Peppler and Todd Hosmer took 12 of the team's 22 shots. The Ice Bears were led by Adam Sedlak, who scored the team's only goal. Sedlak scored 16:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville. Peppler provided the assist. Huntsville's Kevin Genoe stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Havoc registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Bryan Hince took the loss and made 20 saves before being replaced by Braely Torris who made four saves.
