The game between the Columbus Cottonmouths and Macon Mayhem was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Columbus emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Cottonmouths gained the winning advantage on a goal by Shawn Bates 9:33 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Bates was all over the ice for Columbus, as he racked up two goals in the win.

The Cottonmouths put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.4 they average per game.

Ben OQuinn also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Kyle Johnson, Kyle Brodie, John Jackson, and Rusty Hafner, who contributed one each and Andy Bathgate and Cody Freeman, who each chipped in two.

Macon Mayhem kept Columbus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shannon Szabados made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Macon Mayhem was helped by Matt Robertson, who registered two goals. Robertson scored the first of his two goals at 10:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Macon Mayhem. Shawn Skelly assisted on the tally. Robertson's next tally made the score 2-2 with 11:04 left in the third period. Connor P. Toomey picked up the assist. More assists for Macon Mayhem came via Michael Montagna, who had one.

The Cottonmouths totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play. Garrett Bartus recorded 35 saves for Macon Mayhem. Macon Mayhem totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
