Columbus outlasts Macon Mayhem, 4-2Columbus Civic Center Sat, Dec 05, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Columbus Cottonmouths and Macon Mayhem was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Columbus emerged with a 4-2 win. The Cottonmouths gained the winning advantage on a goal by Shawn Bates 9:33 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Bates was all over the ice for Columbus, as he racked up two goals in the win. The Cottonmouths put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.4 they average per game. Ben OQuinn also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Kyle Johnson, Kyle Brodie, John Jackson, and Rusty Hafner, who contributed one each and Andy Bathgate and Cody Freeman, who each chipped in two. Macon Mayhem kept Columbus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shannon Szabados made 31 saves on 33 shots. Macon Mayhem was helped by Matt Robertson, who registered two goals.
