Huntsville beats Mississippi RiverKings 4-0 as Genoe gains shutout

The Huntsville Havoc used a sparkling performance by Kevin Genoe to take down Mississippi RiverKings, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Huntsville's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Havoc were paced by John Lidgett, who registered one goal and one assist. Lidgett scored on the power play 17:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Huntsville had gained a power play chance when Ian Young was whistled for tripping. Stuart Stefan assisted on the tally.

The Havoc forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 32.0 minutes per game Huntsville had been spending in the box. The Havoc's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mississippi RiverKings power plays. Huntsville was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Havoc average 2.2 goals allowed per game. Jason Popek also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Brett Lutes, who had two and Scott Henegar, Nolan Kaiser, and Will Aide, who contributed one each.
