Daniels' hat trick boosts Louisiana over Peoria, 5-2

John Daniels lifted the Louisiana IceGators to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Peoria Rivermen.

Daniels' first goal came 10:10 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:47 into the first and at 19:35 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:45 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Louisiana's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and three majors for 65 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Louisiana put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.6 it averages per game. The IceGators found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Louisiana averages 2.9 goals per game.

Louisiana additionally got points from Geordie Wudrick, who also had one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Dylan Hood as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Jake Hauswirth, who had one and Jeremy Boyer, who had two.

Peoria racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Rivermen had been spending in the box. Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Rivermen's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Peoria gives up 2.4 goals per game. The 40 shots that the Rivermen put on net surpassed Peoria's average of 28.2 shots per game this season.

The Rivermen were helped by Adam Stuart, who registered one goal. Stuart scored on the power play 5:17 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Louisiana. An interference penalty on Scott Morongell had put Peoria on the power play. Tim Hall assisted on the tally. Alec Hagaman also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Dan Bremner and Mike Gurtler, who each chipped in one.

The IceGators' Adam Courchaine stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. For Louisiana, Tyler Barr and Anthony Pisano were ejected from the contest. Francois Brassard took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Kyle Rank who made six saves. The Rivermen registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Team's Bremner and Ben Oskroba were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
