Knoxville wins tough contest against Pensacola, 6-4

The game between the Knoxville Ice Bears and the Pensacola Ice Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Knoxville emerged with a 6-4 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Doug Reid at 12:51 of the second period.

Josh Cousineau had a great game for the Ice Bears, netting two goals. Cousineau found the back of the net 7:04 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 19:31 into the third to make the score 6-4 Knoxville.

The 30 shots that Knoxville put on net surpassed the Ice Bears' average of 26.9 shots per game this season. Knoxville's goal total was higher than its season average. The Ice Bears average 3.4 goals per game. Knoxville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Others who scored for Knoxville included Brad Pawlowski, Jason Price, and Todd Hosmer, who each put in one. More assists for Knoxville came via Ben Power, who had two, Trever Hertz, who had three, and Andrew Bonazza, Zack LaRue, Corey Hale, and Dennis Sicard, who contributed one each.

Pensacola was helped by David Segal, who registered one goal. Segal scored 8:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Nick McParland provided the assist. Pensacola additionally got points from Paul Rodrigues, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Joe Caveney, who also had one goal and one assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Adam Pawlick as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Mike Krieg, who had two and John Clewlow, Joseph Holka, and Corey Banfield, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Knoxville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Eric Levine rejected 24 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
