Kevin Genoe recorded a shutout against the Knoxville Ice Bears as the Huntsville Havoc picked up a 4-0 win. Knoxville's power play was ineffective against Huntsville's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Havoc's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Knoxville power plays. Huntsville featured an improved defense during the game. The Havoc allow 2.3 goals per game. The Ice Bears were unable to stop Huntsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Havoc eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Huntsville's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Havoc finished with 39 penalty minutes. Huntsville was helped by Kyle McNeil, who tallied one goal. McNeil scored 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Steve Mele picked up the assist. Knoxville stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Bears could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Knoxville puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Ice Bears were led by Todd Hosmer, who took four shots. Kevin Genoe made 27 saves for Huntsville on 27 shots. The Havoc registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For Huntsville, Chris Joseph was ejected from the game. Braely Torris rejected 31 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears ended with 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors.
