London's comeback falls short, St. Thomas wins 6-4

The London Nationals almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the St. Thomas Stars managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

St. Thomas led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Stars' Carter McCormick scored on the power play at 8:28 in the third period to put St. Thomas up 5-2.

Carson Moniz had one goal and two assists to lead the Stars. Moniz scored 7:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Spencer Hutchinson picked up the assist.

St. Thomas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Stars ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. St. Thomas forced London goalie Connor Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Stars cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Hutchinson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Matt McJannet, who also finished with one goal and one assist, McCormick, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Cal Horvat, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Andrew Chambers as well. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Eric Henderson, who had three and James Newland, Adam Keyes, and Ryan Valentini, who each chipped in one.

The Nationals kept St. Thomas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nikolas Dampier made 42 saves on 46 shots.

London was led by John Warren, who racked up one goal and one assist. Warren scored 18:13 into the third period to make the score 5-4 St. Thomas. Tanner Ferreira provided the assist. London also got points from Austin Kemp, who also had one goal and one assist. London also had goals scored by Derek Di Iorio and Rai Di Loreto, who each put in one. More assists for London came via Scott Dorion and Matt Bean, who contributed one each.

Connor Hughes made 30 saves for the Nationals on 35 shots. London incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
