Jodoin lifts Amherstview over Gananoque, 11-6Empire Jr. C Sun, Jan 10, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets relied on the scoring touch of Cody Jodoin, who netted five goals, to beat the Gananoque Islanders, 11-6. Jodoin's first goal came 13:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:36 into the second, at 9:13 into the second, at 11:51 into the second, and at 8:57 into the third.Amherstview kept Gananoque's goalie busy throughout the game, and Quinn Cota made 45 saves on 56 shots. The Jets outdid their season average for goals scored. Amherstview has scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Amherstview also got points from Jordan Howe, who also registered one goal and five assists to lead the team in points, Cody Smith, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Joey Mayer, who also had one goal and one assist. Dorian Overland also scored for Amherstview. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Adam Alcorn, who had two, Max Brunner, who had three, Brett Yake, who had six, and Chris Ludwinski, Wyatt Crampton, and Adam Kim, who contributed one each. The Islanders forced Amherstview's goalies to work without much rest, firing 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Ryan Kaszuba made eight stops and Adam Redgate made 24. Gananoque was helped by Patrick Lyster, who finished with two goals and one assist. Lyster scored the first of his two goals at 18:49 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brenden Lochead assisted on the tally. Lyster's next tally made the score 3-3 with 18:11 left in the second period. Chris Boushy picked up the assist. Gananoque additionally got points from Hunter Drew, who also registered one goal and one assist. Gananoque also got a goal from Ryosuke Kabayashi as well. More assists for Gananoque came via Paul Mazzolin, Craig Cross, and Drew Marquette, who contributed one each. The Jets registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Islanders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
