Chard's big game bests Campbellford in 9-5 Amherstview win

Dawson Chard was all over the ice for the Amherstview Jets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Amherstview's 9-5 win over the Campbellford Rebels.

Chard's tallies came on the power play at 13:39 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Amherstview and 18:38 into the third to make the score 8-5 Amherstview.

Campbellford's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Rebels let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

Campbellford was unable to stop the Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Amherstview eventually piled up 63 shots on goal. The Jets' goal total was higher than their season average. Amherstview has scored at the pace of 5.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Amherstview found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Amherstview also got points from Brett Yake, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Alex Rice, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dorian Overland, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Jordan Howe, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Konner Burtenshaw, Chris Ludwinski, and Joey Mayer, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstview came via Max Brunner, who had three and Wyatt Crampton, Zach Maciel, and Adam Kim, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels forced the Jets goalie Ryan Kaszuba to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Campbellford surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Rebels average 2.7 goals per game. Campbellford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Rebels were helped by Jeremiah Doherty, who racked up one goal. Doherty scored 14:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. Campbellford additionally got points from Austin Fry, who also registered one goal and one assist and Travis Bennett, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Campbellford also had goals scored by Alex Buchanan and Tristan Nugent, who scored one goal each. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Ethan McDougall, Graiden Maynard, Caleb Crothers, and Perry Ethan, who contributed one each.

Kaszuba rejected 30 shots on goal for Amherstview. Cole Mahoney made 54 saves for Campbellford on 62 shots. The Rebels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Riley McGuire was ejected from the game.
