Gananoque Recreation Centre    Fri, Jan 08, 2016

Port Hope was paced on offense by Dalton Lawrence and Jon Campbell, who combined for six points. Lawrence grabbed two goals and one assist and Campbell also notched one goal and two assists.

Gananoque was unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Hope eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. The Panthers was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Jack Vautour also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Jordan Gardner, Cameron Lowery, Cameron McGill, and Blane Gaudon, who each chipped in one.

The Islanders forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game Gananoque had been spending in the box.

The Islanders were led by Phil Smith, who racked up two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:25 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Port Hope. A too many men penalty on Smith had put Gananoque on the power play. Brody Cross provided the assist. Smith's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Port Hope with 7:59 left in the second period. Gananoque also got a goal from Brenden Lochead as well. More assists for Gananoque came via Nic Stafford and Ryosuke Kabayashi, who contributed one each.

Port Hope's Aaron Young stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Quinn Cota made 48 saves for the Islanders on 54 shots.
