Napanee squeaks by Picton, 4-2Strathcona Paper Tue, Nov 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Napanee Raiders gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Picton Pirates. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Zach Knapp-Hermer at 4:32 of the second period. Napanee was paced by Cullen Hinds, who tallied one goal. Hinds scored 5:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Napanee. Picton was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Napanee eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Napanee also had goals scored by Matt Tedford and Aidan McFarland, who each put in one. More assists for Napanee came via Brandon Major, who had two and Riley Steeves and Austin Boulard, who each chipped in one. The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Picton was helped by Trey Maracle, who registered one goal. Maracle scored on the power play 19:57 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Napanee. The Pirates earned a power play opportunity when Chris Rogalsky was put in the box for holding. James Pero picked up the assist. Tristan Nugent also scored for Picton. In addition, Picton received assists from Matthew Panetta, who had one. Cameron Parr made 23 saves for the Raiders on 25 shots. Napanee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Charles Grimard recorded 45 saves for Picton. The Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Picton, Devin McCann was ejected from the game.
