Gananoque downs Picton in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Gananoque Islanders' Parker Grant scored 2:28 into overtime to beat the Picton Pirates, 4-3 (OT).

Gananoque nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Islanders made it 3-1 on a goal by Chris Boushy at 13:44 in the second period. Picton pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Gerald Bilker at 2:07 in the third period.

Gananoque got the win on the strength of a great game by Brody Cross, who had one goal and two assists. Cross scored 14:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jakob Erwin provided the assist.

The Islanders managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Gananoque ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

Gananoque also got a goal from Matt Carter as well. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Phil Smith, who had two.

The Pirates managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Picton wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Islanders were unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Picton also got points from Will Harrison, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mitchell Merry also scored for Picton. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Nate Kellar, Matthew Panetta, and Zack Harris, who contributed one each.

Gananoque's Paul Mazzolin stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Islanders registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Brock Tufts made 26 saves for the Pirates on 30 shots. Picton registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
