Port Hope survives Amherstview comeback, wins 5-3WJ Henderson Rec. Centre Sun, Nov 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Port Hope Panthers managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Port Hope led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Panthers' Dalton Lawrence scored on the power play at 2:39 in the third period to put Port Hope up 4-1. Lawrence had two goals to lead the Panthers to victory. Port Hope was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game. Port Hope also got points from Shawn Mackie, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Mike Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Hope also got a goal from Matthew Hunt as well. More assists for Port Hope came via Cameron McGill, Jon Campbell, and Dan Lagrois, who each chipped in one. Amherstview could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Jets average 5.6 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Amherstview was helped by Adam Kim, who had one goal. Kim scored 2:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview. Mike McKitrick picked up the assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Alex Rice and Matt Bruinsma, who scored one goal each. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Brett Yake, Cody Jodoin, Perry Tristan, Jordan Howe, and Dawson Chard, who contributed one each. Sheldon Calbury recorded 19 saves for Port Hope. Adam Redgate made 23 saves for the Jets on 28 shots. Amherstview incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
