Gurr's goals lift Port Hope to 5-1 victory over Napanee

Andrew Gurr had two goals to lead the Port Hope Panthers to a 5-1 victory over the Napanee Raiders.

Gurr's tallies came at 16:18 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope and 19:14 into the first to make the score 3-1 Port Hope.

Napanee was stymied by Port Hope's netminder Aaron Young, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. Young managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.84 prior to the game.

The Panthers stifled the Raiders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Hope forced Napanee goalie Tomo Mikuljan to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Port Hope additionally got points from Dalton Lawrence, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Hope also got a goal from Jon Campbell as well. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Matthew Hunt, Hunter Baker, Evan Wasylyk, Mike Smith, and Matthew Cavanaugh, who contributed one each.

The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Port Hope power plays. Napanee was held below its usual level of production. The Raiders put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Napanee's offense rang up 38 shots on the Panthers' net.

The Raiders were led by Austin Boulard, who scored the team's only goal. Boulard scored 2:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee.

Port Hope incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mikuljan recorded 29 saves for Napanee. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
