Huge game by Lochead boosts Gananoque over Amherstview, 8-4

Brenden Lochead was all over the ice for the Gananoque Islanders, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Gananoque's 8-4 win over the Amherstview Jets.

Lochead got on the board by slotting home a goal 9:25 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Gananoque. Ryosuke Kabayashi picked up the assist. Lochead dished an assist on Duncan McNaughton's goal that made the score 1-0 Gananoque at 12:08 into the first period. He then added assists on Kabayashi's goal at 5:23 into the second and on Kabayashi's goal at 19:18 into the third.

The Islanders' offense rang up 36 shots on Amherstview's net. Gananoque surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Islanders average 4.8 goals per contest.

Gananoque also got points from David Leung, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kabayashi, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Brody Cross also scored for Gananoque. Other players who recorded assists for Gananoque were Nic Stafford, Sam Wilson, Drew Marquette, and Nick Kirkby, who each chipped in one.

The Jets forced Gananoque goalie Quinn Cota to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots.

Amherstview was helped by Cosimo Morin, who had one goal. Morin scored 19:12 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Gananoque. Dorian Overland provided the assist. Amherstview also had goals scored by Zach Maciel, Adam Kim, and Dawson Chard, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstview came via Adam Alcorn and Alex Rice, who contributed one each.

The Islanders' Cota stopped 52 shots out of the 56 that he faced. Gananoque incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ryan Kaszuba made 28 saves for the Jets on 35 shots. Amherstview totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Team's Brett Yake and Max Brunner were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
