Amherstview blows out Picton, 9-3Prince Edward Thu, Nov 05, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-3 win over the Picton Pirates. Joey Mayer had a great game for Amherstview, netting two goals. Mayer scored at 10:18 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Amherstview and again while 18:17 into the first to make the score 6-3 Amherstview. In a losing effort, Picton was paced by Liam Hunter, who finished with two goals. Hunter scored the first of his two goals at 6:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Picton. Nolan Van Vlack assisted on the tally. Hunter's next tally made the score 4-3 Amherstview with 8:55 left in the first period. Van Vlack picked up the assist. The Jets forced Pirates' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots and forcing 30 saves. Dustin Myskiw made seven stops and Dryden Bedard - AP made 23. Amherstview excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jets bested their season scoring average. Amherstview averages 5.8 goals per game. Amherstview also got points from Brett Yake, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Cody Jodoin, who also had one goal and two assists, Wyatt Crampton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jordan Howe, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Amherstview also had goals scored by Adam Alcorn, Perry Tristan, and Dawson Chard, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstview came via Zach Maciel, who had two and Alex Rice, Mike McKitrick, Dorian Overland, Max Brunner, Cody Smith, Adam Kim, and Cosimo Morin, who contributed one each. The Pirates forced the Jets goalie Adam Redgate to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The defensemen of Picton were also effective in Amherstview's zone, and came away with two goals. Mitch Burke also scored for Picton. In addition, Picton received assists from Tristan Nugent, who had one. Redgate recorded 34 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Pirates ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Picton, Hunter was ejected from the game.
