Gananoque falls to Napanee in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Napanee Raiders' Riley Steeves scored 1:09 into overtime to beat the Gananoque Islanders, 5-4 (OT).

Napanee came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Raiders trailed 3-1 after a goal by Gananoque's Sam Wilson at 6:44 in the second period. Napanee knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Kyle Murphy at 14:29 in the third period.

In a losing effort, the Islanders were led by Ryosuke Kabayashi, who registered two goals. Kabayashi scored the first of his two goals at 9:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brenden Lochead picked up the assist. Kabayashi's next tally made the score 2-1 Gananoque with 19:07 left in the second period. Lochead assisted on the tally.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gananoque to score on any of its four power plays. Napanee's offense rang up 44 shots on the Islanders' net.

Napanee also got points from Jordan Cannons, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Napanee also had goals scored by Cullen Hinds and Chris Rogalsky, who scored one goal each. More assists for Napanee came via Brandon Major and Will Peirson, who contributed one each and Matt Tedford, Chad Caskanette, and Austin Boulard, who each chipped in two.

The Raiders were unable to stop Gananoque from sending pucks towards the net, and the Islanders eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Gananoque also got a goal from Phil Smith as well. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Tyson OToole and Brody Cross, who contributed two each.

Tomo Mikuljan recorded 38 saves for Napanee. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Quinn Cota made 39 saves for Gananoque on 44 shots. The Islanders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gananoque ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chase Hawley was ejected from the game.
