Port Hope survives Gananoque comeback, wins 4-2Empire Jr. C Sat, Oct 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Gananoque Islanders, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Port Hope led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Panthers' Hunter Baker scored at 18:06 in the first period to put Port Hope up 3-0. Dan Lagrois was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Lagrois scored at 14:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope and again while 16:29 into the second to make the score 4-2 Port Hope. Port Hope's offense rang up 33 shots on Gananoque's net. Jon Campbell also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Jordan Gardner, Cameron Lowery, Cameron McGill, Dalton Lawrence, and Evan Foley, who contributed one each. The Islanders were held below their usual level of production. Gananoque averages 4.5 goals per game. The Islanders were helped by Ryosuke Kabayashi, who racked up one goal. Kabayashi scored 4:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Port Hope. Shamus Barr APM picked up the assist. Gananoque also got a goal from Phil Smith as well. Aaron Young rejected 22 shots on goal for the Panthers. Port Hope finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage. Quinn Cota made 29 saves for Gananoque on 33 shots. The Islanders ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
