Campbellford downs Port Hope in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Campbellford Rebels pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Port Hope Panthers on a clutch goal by Jeremiah Doherty.

Campbellford came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rebels trailed 2-0 after a goal by Port Hope's Stavros Soilis at 12:30 in the second period. Campbellford knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Doherty at 3:42 in the third period.

Doherty had a great game for the Rebels, netting two goals.

Campbellford struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Campbellford additionally got points from Brenan Rylott, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Campbellford came via Ethan McDougall, who had one.

The Panthers were held below their usual level of production. Port Hope averages 5.1 goals per game. The Panthers forced the Rebels goalie Cole Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Dalton Lawrence also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Cameron McGill, who had two and Evan Foley and Mike Smith, who contributed one each.

Campbellford's Mahoney stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Rebels registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Sheldon Calbury rejected 23 shots on goal for Port Hope. The Panthers ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Port Hope, Keegan Ferguson was ejected from the game.
