Cross' big game bests Campbellford in 7-4 Gananoque winGananoque Recreation Centre Sun, Sep 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Brody Cross had two goals and two assists to lead the Gananoque Islanders to a 7-4 victory over the Campbellford Rebels. Cross scored on the power play at 11:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 1:52 into the second to make the score 4-2 Gananoque.Gananoque's penalty kill excelled, as the Islanders gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. Campbellford was unable to stop Gananoque from sending pucks towards the net, and the Islanders eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Gananoque found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Islanders average 4.5 goals per game. Gananoque could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Gananoque additionally got points from David Leung, who also had one goal and one assist. Gananoque also had goals scored by Brenden Lochead, who had two and Nic Stafford and Sam Wilson, who each put in one. More assists for Gananoque came via Brad Nash APM, Tyson OToole, and Connor Smith, who each chipped in one and Duncan McNaughton and Chance MacDonald, who contributed two each. The Rebels kept the Islanders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Quinn Cota made 35 saves on 39 shots. Campbellford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Rebels were helped by Blaine Thompson, who grabbed two goals. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 1:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Brenan Rylott picked up the assist. Thompson's next tally made the score 5-3 Gananoque with 1:47 left in the second period. Jeremiah Doherty provided the assist. Campbellford also got points from Rylott, who also registered one goal and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Graiden Maynard as well. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Jacob Trotter and Jackob Bennett, who each chipped in one. Gananoque registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Cole Mahoney made 45 saves for Campbellford on 51 shots.
