Maynard lifts Campbellford over Gananoque, 7-4Warkworth Sat, Sep 26, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Graiden Maynard was all over the ice for the Campbellford Rebels, as he tallied two goals in Campbellford's 7-4 win over the Gananoque Islanders. Maynard scored at 6:20 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Campbellford and again while 11:18 into the third to make the score 6-4 Campbellford.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:30 into the third period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with seven game misconducts. The Rebels were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rebels forced Gananoque's goalies to work in net, getting 38 shots and forcing 31 saves. Quinn Cota made 18 stops and John Gilmer made 13. Campbellford bested its season scoring average. This season, the Rebels average 2.2 goals per contest. Campbellford's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Campbellford also got points from Josh Hodge, who also registered one goal and two assists and Grant Fry, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Campbellford also had goals scored by Ethan McDougall, Travis Bennett, and Jeremiah Doherty, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Koel Newton, Jackob Bennett, Alex Buchanan, and Brent Bucknell, who contributed one each. The Islanders kept the Rebels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Mahoney made 36 saves on 40 shots. Gananoque was helped by Phil Smith, who had two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 4:09 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. Nick Kirkby picked up the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 4-3 Campbellford with 14:05 left in the third period. The Islanders had gotten the advantage when Campbellford's Bennett was sent off for roughing after whistle. Brenden Lochead assisted on the tally. Gananoque additionally got points from Brody Cross, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Lochead, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Nic Stafford and Ryosuke Kabayashi, who each chipped in one. The Rebels registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Newton and Hodge were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Gananoque totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For the Islanders, Hunter Drew and Smith were ejected from the contest.
