St. Andrews College wins tough contest against Nichols School, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Andrews College Saints escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Nichols School Vikings.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Connor Ali at 12:45 of the second period.

Ali had a great game for St. Andrews College, netting two goals.

The Saints' penalty kill excelled, as St. Andrews College gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Saints kept Nichols School's goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Graziano made 29 saves on 32 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

St. Andrews College also got a goal from Reid Yochim as well. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Mitchell Martan, who had one and Corey Andonovski, who had two.

The Vikings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five St. Andrews College power plays. St. Andrews College was unable to stop Nichols School from sending pucks towards the net, and the Vikings eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Nichols School was helped by Steve Senese, who tallied one goal. Senese scored on the power play 18:12 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A slashing penalty on Felix Cote had put the Vikings on the power play. Cole Donhauser assisted on the tally. Nichols School also got points from Donhauser, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Nichols School received assists from Alec Yerkovich, who had one.

The Saints' Cole Chapman stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. St. Andrews College incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nichols School incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
