St. Andrews College uses fast start to beat St. Michaels College, 11-2

The St. Michaels College Majors fell behind early, and the St. Andrews College Saints kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-2 victory.

St. Andrews College got the win on the strength of a great game by Lucas Thorne, who had two goals and one assist. Thorne scored the first of his two goals at 6:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Thorne's next tally made the score 3-1 St. Andrews College with 6:43 left in the first period. Connor Ali assisted on the tally.

The Saints pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 21 penalty minutes.

St. Andrews College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. St. Michaels College was unable to stop the Saints from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Andrews College eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Saints surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Andrews College has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Saints got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Andrews College additionally got points from Otto Saarimaa, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Mitchell Martan, who also tallied two goals and two assists, William Sirman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jacob Miller, who also had one goal and one assist, Morgan Barron, who also racked up two goals and two assists, and Regan Kimens, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Andrews College also got a goal from Jacob Ledson as well. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Corey Andonovski, who had two and Noah Lugli, Kyle Hunter, and Kody Clark, who each chipped in one.

The Majors were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time.

St. Michaels College was led by Jacob Quirin, who registered one goal. Quirin scored 2:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels College. Conner McCauley picked up the assist. Daniel Cullen also scored for St. Michaels College. In addition, St. Michaels College received assists from Jonah Alexander and Brendan Byrne, who contributed one each.

Kristian Hufsky made 13 saves before being replaced by Cole Chapman, who took the win and made four saves. St. Andrews College registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Saints ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Wyatt was ejected from the game. The Majors' Mark Morrison stopped 35 shots out of the 46 that he faced. For St. Michaels College, Patrick Yau was ejected from the game.
