St. Andrews College squeaks by Appleby College, 5-3

The game between the St. Andrews College Saints and the Appleby College Blue Dogs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Andrews College emerged with a 5-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jacob Miller secured the win for the Saints with a goal in the second period.

Alex MacDonald was all over the ice for St. Andrews College, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. MacDonald scored on the power play 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Saints had gained a power play chance when Zach Landau was whistled for high sticking. Reid Yochim picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Appleby College was paced by Sammy English, who racked up two goals. English scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Appleby College. A boarding penalty on Yochim had put the Blue Dogs on the power play. Adam Scholz provided the assist. English's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 St. Andrews College with 13:48 left in the third period. Scholz picked up the assist.

Appleby College was unable to stop St. Andrews College from sending pucks towards the net, and the Saints eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. St. Andrews College found itself short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

St. Andrews College additionally got points from Mack Falconer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Andrews College also had goals scored by Lucas Thorne and Morgan Barron, who each put in one. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from William Sirman, Corey Andonovski, and Regan Kimens, who each chipped in one.

The Blue Dogs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes.

Appleby College also got a goal from Will Graham as well. More assists for Appleby College came via Steve Jang, who had two.

Cole Chapman rejected 21 shots on goal for the Saints. St. Andrews College registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Appleby College's Nicolas Solari stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
