St. Andrews College holds on for 7-5 win against Detroit Central CatholicLaBrier Family Arena Sun, Dec 13, 2015 Detroit Central Catholic tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the St. Andrews College Saints would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5. A goal by Otto Saarimaa put St. Andrews College up 7-3 in the third period, but Detroit Central Catholic pulled to within two on J.P. Lafferty's tally 16:58 into the third period. The Saints' penalty kill excelled, as St. Andrews College gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Saints stifled Detroit Central Catholic's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Detroit Central Catholic was unable to stop St. Andrews College from sending pucks towards the net, and the Saints eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. St. Andrews College bested its season scoring average. This season, the Saints average 4.8 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals. St. Andrews College could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The Saints were led by Morgan Barron, who racked up one goal and two assists. Barron scored 3:35 into the third period to make the score 6-2 St. Andrews College. Kody Clark provided the assist. St. Andrews College additionally got points from Reid Yochim, who also registered one goal and one assist and Corey Andonovski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. St. Andrews College also had goals scored by William Sirman, Connor Ali, and Jacob Ledson, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Matthew MacDougall and Lucas Thorne, who contributed one each and Nick Gosse and Ryan OConnell, who each chipped in two. Detroit Central Catholic's offense rang up 32 shots on St. Andrews College's net. Detroit Central Catholic also got points from Austin Roell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brian Kearns, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Detroit Central Catholic also got a goal from Jared Lee as well. Kristian Hufsky recorded 27 saves for the Saints. St. Andrews College registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Alec Calvaruso made 29 saves for Detroit Central Catholic on 36 shots. Detroit Central Catholic incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
