St. Andrews College takes care of Detroit Central Catholic early, wins 6-3LaBrier Family Arena Sat, Dec 12, 2015 A four-goal first period deficit cost Detroit Central Catholic, which could not recover and fell to the St. Andrews College Saints, 6-3. St. Andrews College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Saints forced Detroit Central Catholic goalie Mitchell Kieffer to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. St. Andrews College was helped by Morgan Barron, who finished with one goal. Barron scored 51 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Andrews College. Ryan OConnell picked up the assist. St. Andrews College also got a goal from Lucas Thorne as well. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Otto Saarimaa, who had two and Noah Lugli, William Sirman, Alex MacDonald, Jacob Ledson, and Regan Kimens, who contributed one each. Detroit Central Catholic put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Saints to score on any of their three power plays. Detroit Central Catholic was helped by Glynn Robitaille, who grabbed one goal. Robitaille scored 19:26 into the second period to make the score 5-3 St. Andrews College. Kyle Mulka provided the assist. Detroit Central Catholic additionally got points from Mulka, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. J.P. Lafferty also scored for Detroit Central Catholic. In addition, Detroit Central Catholic received assists from Jared Lee, Sheldon Wasik, and Brian Kearns, who each chipped in one. Cole Chapman recorded 26 saves for St. Andrews College. The Saints incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mitchell Kieffer made 30 saves for Detroit Central Catholic on 35 shots.
