Medeiros leads Brantford over Thorold, 6-2

The Brantford Blast's Derek Medeiros had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 6-2 win over the Thorold Athletics.

Medeiros' tallies came at 8:53 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brantford and 11:12 into the third to make the score 6-2 Brantford.

Brantford additionally got points from Cameron Sault, who also racked up two goals and two assists and Dustin Alcock, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Brantford came via Dave Russell, Charbommeau Mike, Jeff Caister, and Jamie Williams, who contributed one each.

Thorold's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brantford power plays. The Athletics did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Thorold averages 4.6 goals per game. The Athletics' offense rang up 31 shots on Brantford's net.

Thorold was helped by Derek Nichols, who grabbed one goal. Nichols scored 13:26 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Brantford. Mark Locher assisted on the tally. Thorold also got a goal from Chris Risi as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Reid Lesswing, Tyler Turcotte, and John Falzoi, who each chipped in one.

Brett Leggat made 29 saves for the Blast on 31 shots. Brantford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Blast ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan McCarthy was ejected from the game. Frank Novello recorded 17 saves for the Athletics. Thorold incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
