Behind a great game by Darren Doherty, who had two goals and one assist, the Whitby Dunlops defeated the Thorold Athletics, 7-4. Doherty scored at 5:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby and again while 1:01 into the second to make the score 2-2.Whitby kept Thorold's goalie busy throughout the game, and Frank Novello made 30 saves on 37 shots. Whitby additionally got points from Chris Eade, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Kyle Ventura, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Whitby included Jason Dale, Brett McConnachie, and Connor Shingler, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Will Jones, Corey Tamblyn, Nick Jobb, and Shane Terry, who each chipped in one and Chris Gour and Adam Maccarone, who contributed two each. The Athletics forced the Dunlops goalie Anthony Kimlin to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Thorold was led by John Falzoi, who tallied one goal and one assist. Falzoi scored on the power play 9:36 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Whitby. The Athletics had taken the advantage when Whitby's Marcus Carroll got sent off for tripping. Steven Dol provided the assist. Thorold also got points from Jim Durham, who also had one goal and one assist. Thorold also had goals scored by Chris Risi and Joe Christiano, who scored one goal each. In addition, Thorold received assists from Brad Jackson and Steve Zmudcynski, who each chipped in one. Anthony Kimlin made 34 saves for the Dunlops on 38 shots. Whitby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Dunlops, Patrick Jobb was ejected from the game. Thorold incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
