Brantford beats Dundas 5-0 as Leggat gains shutout

The Brantford Blast used a sparkling performance by Brett Leggat to take down the Dundas Real McCoys, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Brantford's 5-0 shutout victory.

The Blast were led by Dustin Alcock, who had one goal. Alcock scored 12:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Chris Leveille provided the assist.

Brantford managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Blast ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Brantford forced Dundas goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Brantford also got points from Brandon Dietrich, who also registered one goal and one assist and Leveille, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brantford also got a goal from Derek Medeiros as well. In addition, Brantford received assists from Dave Russell, who had one, Cameron Sault, who had three, and Jeff Caister and Joel Prpic, who each chipped in two.

The Real McCoys were held below their usual level of production. Dundas puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Real McCoys kept the Blast's goalie busy throughout the game, and Leggat made 38 saves on 38 shots.

Brantford registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Mike Mole made 29 saves for Dundas on 34 shots. The Real McCoys incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
