Stoney Creek holds on for 8-7 win against Dundas

The Stoney Creek Generals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Dundas Real McCoys on the way to an 8-7 win.

Stoney Creek made the score 7-3 on a goal by Jarrett Konkle at 8:07 in the third period, and Dundas got as close as 7-6 when Brad Bonello scored 11:36 into the third period.

The Generals were paced by Justin Donati, who racked up one goal. Donati scored 14:43 into the third period to make the score 8-6 Stoney Creek. Tyler Donati picked up the assist.

Stoney Creek forced the Real McCoys goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots.

Stoney Creek additionally got points from Kyle Frieday, who also had one goal and one assist, Nathan Pageau, who also registered one goal and two assists, Donati, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Chris Knighton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Sean Blanchard, Matt Ruberto, Justin Sawyer, and Jeremy Bloomfield, who each chipped in one and Dylan Quaile and Mike Ruberto, who contributed two each.

Dundas forced the Generals' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Alex Wyse made five stops and Daniel Svedin made 24. The Real McCoys outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Dundas averages 4.0 goals per contest.

Dundas also got points from Cam Watson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Chris Hulit, who also had one goal and one assist, Matthew Bragg, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Steve Hurst, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Brent Vandenberg, who had two, Shawn Snider, who had four, and Simon Mangos, Jake Guindon, and Trevor Atkinson, who each chipped in one.

Stoney Creek incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Real McCoys' Mole stopped 50 shots out of the 58 that he faced. Dundas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
