Brantford survives Hamilton comeback, wins 4-3Mountain Arena Sat, Feb 13, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hamilton Steelhawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brantford Blast would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. A goal by Derek Medeiros put Brantford up 4-2 in the third period, but Hamilton pulled to within one on Steve Guzzo's tally 16:21 into the third period. The Blast were paced by Medeiros, who registered one goal and one assist. Medeiros scored on the power play 11:02 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Brantford. Brantford had gotten the advantage when the Steelhawks' Gary Clarke was sent off for tripping. Brandon Dietrich picked up the assist. The Blast excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Brantford kept Hamilton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Goss made 45 saves on 49 shots. Brantford also got points from Joel Prpic, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brantford included Dustin Alcock and Ryan McCarthy, who each put in one. In addition, Brantford received assists from Cameron Sault, Mike Charbonneau, Mike Burgoyne, Ian Fowler, and Derek Foam, who contributed one each. The Blast were unable to stop the Steelhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hamilton eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Steelhawks were led by Kevin Rebelo, who had two goals. Rebelo scored the first of his two goals at 2:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Jason Bonsignore provided the assist. Rebelo's next tally made the score 3-2 Brantford with 15:01 left in the third period. More assists for Hamilton came via Colin Isnor and Jason Ward, who each chipped in one. Anthony Marshall recorded 35 saves for Brantford. The Blast incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Brantford, Dave Russell was ejected from the game. Hamilton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
